Untitled Document Buy PCLinuxOS Linux 2010.1 on CD. PCLinuxOS includes an updating of the mklivecd scripts by Tom Kelly and Ivan Kerekes to support unionfs. Mediacheck was added as a command boot option to verify the CD is perfect. Additional SATA hard drive support has been added. The Live CD desktop now defaults to 1024x768 at 16 bpp instead of 800x600. The desktop backgrounds and Control Center Iconset were designed by jrangles to provide a clean and beautiful desktop. Additional icons were placed on the desktop to help with installation, online help via IRC, documentation in our wiki and man pages. My Computer icon was added for easy access to applications, desktop configuration and media storage access for additional hard drive partitions. Many applications have been updated and pre-configured for easy use with minimal or no setup. PCLinuxOS 2010.1 comes with Kernel 2.6.26 along with udev support. The fabulous KDE 3.5.10 with hal/dbus backend for automounting removable media, Firefox 3.6.3 with plugin support, Thunderbird 3.0.4, P2P file sharing for Gnutella, K3b 1.91.0 CD burning software and many many more applications. There are almost 2 gigs of programs compressed on a single 700 mb Live CD! To access the Live CD, use "Guest" and "Guest" and for root privileges "Root" and "Root" at the login prompt. PCLinuxOS strives to provide a complete and mobile desktop solution to the average computer user. You can also install PCLinuxOS to your hard drive and enjoy hundreds of additional programs that are available in the repository. The powerful and easy to use apt-get, combined with the synaptic front end handle any program dependencies. PCLinuxOS 2010.1 is a development release and should be considered beta software.
